Choosemycare.com was established in 2008 to help people more easily find the care and support they needed locally, and to put them directly in touch with providers.
Founders Rob and Lynn Osborne called on their combined 23 years experience in social care on a national and local stage, in both public and private sectors, to create the perfect way to bring providers and those looking for care and support together.
Launched in the south of England in Autumn 2010 Choosemycare.com will fast become an invaluable national resource for care and support services.
The seeds for Choosemycare.com were sewn in 2008 when Rob and Lynn became more acutely aware of the bad experiences some people were having when trying to arrange care and services for family members.
Complaints about the time it was taking to source care, the number of phone calls they had to make and the endless waiting to be called back were endemic.
In addition, in a growing care and support sector, providers needed a system that would help drive business to them.
Local authority programmes as part of the Putting People First initiative were giving people more choice and control over the services they needed – but they were limited to the local authority boundaries and the criteria exercised by different social services departments.
A national resource for care and support services, such as Choosemycare.com, would work better than different solutions produced by different councils.
Choosemycare.com puts people in control of choosing their care and support services and at the same time develops businesses that provide those services.
