Care Roadshows - Bringing the Care Providers to Manchester ...

Following the success of the first Care Roadshow in Glasgow, Care Roadshows is to next visit Old Trafford, Manchester on Thursday 30th June. A trip to your local Care Roadshow will give you new ideas for improving efficiency; inspiration for developing your training and work practices and fresh enthusiasm to take back to your care home.

The roadshows focus on bringing dedicated care suppliers to your area and are specially chosen for their unique and quality products and services. These established companies will display innovations in training provisions, virus control, interior design and other essential services. Some of the companies that are exhibiting include Niko Projects, Owen Mumford, Vitalyz, Zest Care Systems plus many more. A key feature at the roadshow will be the free and informative seminars, sponsored by Choosemycare.com, which will focus on informing visitors of the latest changes within the care sector.

Seminar Schedule:

10.30am: Designing For Care with Care: Creating a home your residents can enjoy!
Eda Brooks, Access 21

This seminar will focus on the practical aspects of designing interiors for the care sector, especially where residents have specific needs such as those with dementia or learning disabilities.
There will also be a brief session on how best to present your home for marketing purposes, to create the best impression to prospective clients, to give your home the competitive edge.

11.30am: CQC, Quality and Safety - an overview of the role of CQC, registration and regulation, developments now and into the future

Seminar to include:

  •   the structure and responsibilities of CQC
  •   the establishment of a single system of registration and regulation (Health and Social Care Act 2008)
  •   the development of the regulatory model
  •   the focus on patient experience and outcomes
  •   the use of intelligence to monitor compliance with standards

12.30pm: The Importance of Physical and Mental Stimulation in a Social Care Setting
Tony Duke, Vitalyz

The idea will be to spend time exploring why the human mind and body needs both physical and mental stimulation, then look at the possible benefits, and continue the theme with simple ways of introducing physical and mental stimulation. The presentation will demonstrate how we can change the mood of a group of people and individuals, by performing simple tasks. We will explore the five senses, using a small range of equipment to demonstrate shapes, sounds, lights, and aromas, and this will show how ‘anyone’ can be involved in a stimulating activity programme.
Each person will be given a stress ball on entering the room, and a certificate of attendance and copy of the power points can be supplied to each person via e-mail request.
